7. Fairlington Invasive Plant Pull

Help clear invasive plants from a singular patch of woodland in Fairlington. Join your neighbors at the stand of trees that descends from the northern boundary fence of the community center and runs along S. 32nd Road between S. Stafford and Utah—it’s that little wooded hillside you’ve probably driven past a dozen times (hundreds, maybe, if you live in the Green or the Commons). Despite warming temperatures, wear long sleeves, long pants, and gloves—poison ivy alert! If you have them, bring loppers, pruning shears, or secateurs. Look for naturalist and Fairlington Green resident Lenny Bankester, who will point out the noxious invaders and organize volunteers’ efforts.
