Creative Writing through Art – Art at the Center (Classes)

George Mason University teacher consultant for the Northern Virginia Writing Project, Eileen Yaeger, has joined with Art at the Center to teach two writing classes for elementary school age children this month.

About the class….

“Art and the Writing Process”
Students will enter the writing process with a simple hands-on art experience, followed by an on-going writers workshop. The children will experience visual, kinesthetic, and verbal modes of thinking during each stage of the writing process. Attention will be given to setting, mood, sequencing, and character and plot development, in both pictures and words (based on some of the approaches of Beth Olshansky.)

This class is offered to young writers from 1st through 4th grades.
