Visit American Girl “Addy” and Experience Addy’s World at the National Museum of American History (Beginning 2.5.11)

Starting February, 5, 2011, explore life during the Civil War with a new self-guided museum tourAddy’s World. Addy Walker, an American Girl, is a nine-year old born into slavery who escapes to freedom with her mother during the Civil War. Experience what life was like for Addy and other young African American girls during the Civil War as you follow the guide to discover objects and stories throughout the Museum. When you’ve completed and stamped your guide, bring it to the Museum store and receive a free American Girl gift to take home.

One visitor will take home American Girl Addy Walker on February 5
Join them on February 5 as they celebrate the kick-off of Black History Month, where one visitor will be bringing home his or her own Addy doll. Answer Addy’s questions between 10AM and 2PM. At 2:30PM, we’ll pick one correct questionnaire and that visitor will bring Addy home. You must be present in Flag Hall at 2:30PM. Come down to the Museum and be part of the celebration!

Bring your doll to the museum
Bring your American Girl doll with you on your museum adventure as you experience the stories of everyday people that Addy might have encountered. Take a photo of your visit with your doll and upload it to our Flickr group.

The Addy’s World guide will be available through August and is recommended for families with elementary-aged children. However, all American Girl fans will delight in exploring Addy’s World! We hope to see you and your families at the Museum.
