The National Museum of the U.S. Navy will be hosting Girls Make History Day on June 26 from 10 am-4 pm.
Meet Valerie Tripp and Jackie Greene, authors of many American Girl books!
- Enter to win an American Girl Doll
- Prizes for those who dress like their favorite character
- Dolls are encouraged to come join the fun!
- Activities featuring American Girl best friends Emily and Elizabeth
This is a great opportunity for girls, between the ages of 5 and 12, to explore U.S. naval history and naval science through the lives of the very popular American Girl historical characters and encourage them to make good choices and try their best in school and sports activities.
There are one or two hands-on educational activities centered around naval history, naval science, or maritime culture for each American Girl featured throughout the day. These activities aim to generate young women’s interest in history, science, and naval service while they are having fun.
Activities will focus on the historical periods the following American Girl historic characters lived in: Felicity and Elizabeth (American Revolution), Kirsten (American Expansion), Samantha (Victorian America), Addy (Civil War), Rebecca (WWI), Kit (Great Depression), Molly and Emily (WWII).”
