DC Blues Festival @ Carter Barron Amphitheatre (DC)
This year’s festival celebrates 21 years of the DC Blues Society, with a lineup including Teeny Tucker, Eugene “Hideaway” Bridges, Eddie Turner, Michael Hill’s Blues Mob, Billy Thompson & Friends, and the Capital Blues Ensemble. There are vocal, dance, and harmonica workshops, and a children’s petting zoo, where children can play instruments.
Virginia Scottish Games and Festival @ Great Meadow (The Plains, VA)
Celebrate Virginia’s Scottish heritage with Scottish athletics, dancing, children’s games, music, crafts, food, and other fascinating Scottish events. Children can compete in four or five different events (depending on their age), including foot races, bale tossing, brick throwing, the discus (frisbee) throw, and the “caber” toss.
Mayan Weaving Demonstrations @ National Museum of the American Indian (DC)
Ixil Mayan master weaver Juanita Velasco demonstrates the art of weaving on the traditional back-strap loom, tells the story depicted in her weaving, and offers a variety of presentations. Friendship bracelet workshops may be offered as a hands-on activity for all ages.

National Symphony Orchestra Labor Day Concert @ US Capitol / Capitol Visitor Center (DC)
At the annual Labor Day Concert on the West Lawn of the US Capitol, the National Symphony Orchestra, led by Associate Conductor Emil de Cou, presents a program featuring beloved American classics.
Art a la Cart @ Smithsonian American Art Museum (DC)
Kids can visit four interactive carts throughout the galleries to explore subjects such as sculpture and folk art through hands-on activities. Art a la Cart locations are indicated on maps available at the Information Desks in the F Street and G Street lobbies.
