Blackberry Bonanza & Wellness Fest @ Bluemont Vineyard (Bluemont, VA)
Blackberries are filled with anti-oxidants and health benefits so to celebrate blackberry season, this year’s festival is taking on a wellness theme. Drop by the farm for blackberry picking and blackberry wine tasting (21 and older) with Bluemont Vineyard.

Bat Fest Arlington 2009 @ Gulf Branch Nature Center (Arlington, VA)
See a presentation with live bats, go on a walk to see bats flying and to hear their echolocation calls, learn about foods that are pollinated by bats, play games, and make bat crafts.

Princess for a Day Ice Cream Social @ Heritage Farm Museum (Sterling, VA)
The court of the Virginia Dairy Princess Program serves ice cream at an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. The first 100 children to arrive receive a complimentary tiara; a Princess Pageant is scheduled at 1pm; dress to impress. Advance registration is required.

Sunday, July 26th

Peruvian Festival of Arlington @ Gunston Center (Arlington, VA)
The festival celebrates Peru’s independence from Spain with a traditional lineup of dances, music, and cuisine. Hear singers perform musica criolla (Creole) and Afro-Peruvian songs, while huayno musicians and dancers perform that genre, which had its origins in the Andean highlands. On the menu are traditional Peruvian dishes.

Loudoun County Fair @ Loudoun County Fairgrounds (Leesburg, VA)
The annual fair features livestock shows, riding demonstrations, a bull-riding rodeo, a demolition derby, carnival rides, food, cooking competitions, a Kiss-A-Pig contest, and special programs for children.

Buglover’s Paradise @ Huntley Meadows Park (Alexandria, VA)
Families look for grasshoppers, butterflies, ladybugs, and leafhoppers, and then stop by the classroom for self-guided activities, a craft, and videos.
