Today, the Mongolian Sports Festival was held at Barcroft Sports Complex in Arlington. Many cultural activities were held in addition to sports. Contortionists, live traditional music, and traditional mask dancing. Children participated in chess, archery, Soccer, races and the very popular bounce house.
Many families sat under tents with small tables on a rug where you sit on a pillow with family and friends while sharing traditional foods. Most were enjoying “Buuz”, which are dumplings filled with meat, and cooked in steam or “Boortsog“, a type of Mongolian cookies. They all appeared quite cozy. Just a reminder that it’s the simple pleasures in life that are often most enjoyable.
