SATURDAY, July 11th
French Festival @ Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens (DC)
Families are invited to travel back 300 years to a time when ladies curtsied, men bowed, and courtships came alive in outdoor garden settings. Entertainment includes the lively theatrics presented by New York Baroque Dance Company and Opera Lafayette, gallery talks about French decorative arts and Sevres imperial porcelain, “Kings, Queens & Soup Tureens” audio tour, garden talks in the French Parterre, and traditional games, such as jacks and a hoop-tossing game called The Three Graces.

Kids Bowl Free @ AMF (Alexandria, VA)
A select number of metro DC bowling halls, including AMF Alexandria, offer kids two free games every day throughout the summer, redeemable by email coupons. A Family Pass is also available for $23.95 and allows up to four adults to go bowling with the kids.
Billy Jonas @ Jammin’ Java (Vienna, VA)
Jonas’ original pieces are played on fanciful “industrial re-percussion” instruments made from found objects. He sings in a clear tenor voice; his guitar work is adventurous, alternately percussive, and lyrical.
