Local favorite Rocknoceros paints the town Pink! 7pm tonight!

SATURDAY, June 27th

American Girl Day @ US Navy Museum (DC)
Children (and their dolls) are invited to spend the day discovering naval history through the eyes of their favorite American Girl characters. Author Valerie Tripp signs books from 11am to 1pm, plus there are hands-on activities that explore the eras of Felicity, Addy, Samantha, Kit, and Molly; a raffle for a Molly McIntire doll; and prizes given to those who come dressed as their favorite character. Brothers are encouraged to attend too.

Super Saturday Smackdown @ Borders (Various Locations)
Borders invites kids for a game-show style trivia challenge testing their knowledge of kids’ literature. The event takes place at most Borders locations.

DC Caribbean Carnival @ Banneker Community Center (DC)
The 17th annual DC Caribbean Carnival features a parade of 20 dazzling troupes, including steel bands, masqueraders, and dancers on Saturday, plus two days of festival music and food. The parade begins at the corner of Georgia and Missouri Avenues, NW, and rolls along down Georgia, ending up at Banneker Park at the intersection of Georgia and Barry Place, NW. On Saturday and Sunday, Banneker becomes “De Savannah,” a festival offering live Caribbean music, crafts, and tempting treats to eat.

Kids Bowl Free @ AMF (Alexandria, VA)
A select number of metro DC bowling halls, including AMF Alexandria, offer kids two free games every day throughout the summer, redeemable by email coupons. Parents can sign their children up through the website and receive coupons for each child every week. A Family Pass is also available for $23.95 and allows up to four adults to go bowling with the kids.

SUNDAY, June 28th

Bike Hike @ Rock Creek Park (DC)
Join a park ranger and explore Rock Creek Park up to Boundary Bridge. Riders need to bring their own bike and water; helmets are required.

Copperheads @ Ellanor C. Lawrence Park (Chantilly, VA)
Assist a naturalist with a reptile survey. Head out into one of the Park Authority’s newest properties to search for, capture, identify, and release snakes. Learn the habits and preferred habitats of our native snakes.
